Riotous Rustics

with Mary Noble

Roman lettering from the 1st Century A.D.

We were guided through the various developemnets of this script from narrow letters with big feet, or wearing wellingtons as Mary described them, through to the final "square" shaped letters with small feet. Each final letter was three nib widths tall and, where applicable, three nib widths wide. Strict rules were applied where you could not have two thin or two fat strokes touching. A wonderful workshop which was very well taught and well received by all present.
