About Us

Now in its 35th year, the Marches Scribes was founded in 1991 by a small number of artists with a shared love of calligraphy. The aim of the group is to inspire and promote the art of calligraphy and lettering. We are a friendly and welcoming bunch based in the Welsh Marches near Leominster with members from up and down the border including Herefordshire, Shropshire, Powys, and Worcestershire.

The society holds monthly workshops at Monkland Village hall led by experienced tutors who encourage participants, of all levels, to share and enjoy fine writing and associated crafts.
